Product Information
In Star Trek: Captain's Chair, you will go head-to-head with an opponent, each stepping into the shoes of an iconic captain from across Star Trek's galaxy and history. Command ships, crew, and away teams, while you manage resources and alliances!
Each of the six captains come with their own unique, asymmetric deck of cards, themed to that captain's personality strategies, allies, and assets. Each deck creates different strategic directions, based on what common cards are available and what strategy your opponent deploys.
The captains to choose from include:
Jean-Luc Picard
Benjamin Sisko
Michael Burnham
Koloth, The Dahar Master
Sela
Thy'lek Shran
True to Star Trek, antagonism will not win every game. You will need to pursue diplomacy, exploration, and science, with different captains excelling at different paths.

32 Ship tokens
12 Automated command cards
2 Player aid cards

LEVEL UP YOUR GAMING EXPERIENCE
Star Trek: Captain's Chair is a strategic deck-building game. I have only played this solo, so my brief review is based on that experience. So far, I have played with Jean-Luc Picard and Thy'lek Shran, each of whom comes with a unique deck offering diverse playstyles and strategies. Picard focuses more on allies, while Shran emphasizes cargo mechanics.
The game's complexity is notable, with a bit of a steep learning curve. Watching tutorial videos helped me grasp the rules, as the rulebook is decent but not perfect.
That said, the gameplay is very rewarding as you become more familiar with the mechanics.
As a big Star Trek fan, I find the thematic integration excellent. Each captain's deck truly reflects their character and style, making the experience feel authentic.
My only criticism is that even after 14 games, interpreting some cards when playing against the bot can still be a bit of a head-scratcher. I occasionally have to look online for clarifications.
In conclusion, Star Trek: Captain's Chair is an outstanding game, and it will be my go-to solo game for some time. Its richly thematic and strategic gameplay keeps me engaged.
Its complexity was a bit daunting at first, but the immersive experience and variety make it a worthwhile endeavor for dedicated fans and strategy enthusiasts alike.
